15 November is the beginning of the traditional Christmas Fast in many Eastern churches. Because Advent is a more developed liturgical season in Western Churches than the preparatory period before Christmas is in the Byzantine Churches, and because our community is bi-ritual, having both Eastern and Western elements, we will begin the Fast from the beginning of the Advent season on 3 December. Individuals, of course, are free to observe the longer Fast from 15 November.
