8th Sunday of Pentecost What do you make of the language and idea of “sacrifice”contained implicitly in the Old Testament reading (with its language about“altar” and “temple”) and explicitly in the Epistle (“[Jesus] has now reconciled in his fleshly body through death,” and “in my flesh I [Paul]am completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church”)? And then what does it mean for us to “abide in Christ”, who is the crucified and resurrected One?
